steps out of the car the tears run down her cheek , as fast as the rain hit the pavement. So quiet , yet so deadly. Each day will bring new pain and each day will bring new questions and answers to what has been deemed unknown.
He’s been gone for 7 months on his deployment and still not a letter back from Iraq. She’s been patiently waiting for him to update her on how life is at the call of duty. Far from the game the reality is, far from what society believes they know about war. Not only has she not heard back from him, but neither has his family. Trying to stay positive and think everything is at best, they pray to God for his return home, safe and sound.
19 months since they have been together, officially as a couple. Only two months in total that they have spent together physically. Military relationships are one of the hardest because of the dragged out deployments, the lack of presence and the distance in between. She comes home every night to an empty house and dinner alone, yet she waits for her beloved husband. Her heart is for him and only him, never would she even dare leave the man she loves so much - so true.
Meanwhile in Iraq.
He prays to God that the letters he sent out the week before has reached home before the base was under attack by Al - Qaeda. Luckily this soldier was patrolling the streets of Iraq on a daily routine the Army had set up to protect innocent civillians. He was taking place of a Soldier who had been granted leave due to a family emergency back in Buffalo, NY.He knew he should’ve sent the letters out sooner , he knew he should’ve stopped slacking on writing those letters, he knew he should’ve kept writing those letters a constant factor in him being gone - not only does his family not know the state of his well being, neither does the love of his life.
He knew he was one lucky man to still be alive while 27 soldiers were wounded and 4 were killed in the ambush. He had no way to reach his Wife back in the States. Systems were still being rebooted and restored, there was no time for webcams or phone calls.
He wrote more letters but were unable to send them out, at least not until tomorrow morning.
